Advisor to the President
Dr. Donald Cleveland is a retired Sergeant Major with the United States Army with 33 years of service. For over the last 10 years of service he has held multiple leadership positions and assignments. Donald’s achievements in the military included his ability to mentor and train over 200 military personnel, and through this mentoring, it has helped many military personnel to achieve their next rank.
Donald serves as an Advisory Board Member for Rising Star Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization which ensures that girls have access to educational opportunities, through awarding scholarships. The Foundation also promotes positive relationship building, by implementing programs and activities that encourage girls to stay in school and teaching financial literacy. Donald is a past Executive Committee SVP Member of the MLK Grande Parade 2023 where he served
as overseeing the entire parade and gala operations. He is also a member of Royal Court Pi Space City Kings of Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) organization as its treasurer. The fraternity mission is to strengthen the local and
veteran communities through various community service projects. The goal of Royal Court Pi is to uplift and support veterans, homeless veterans, and the local community through education, scholarship, mentorship of the youth, feeding homeless veterans, as well as backpack drives. Dr. Cleveland currently serves as an active Advisory Board Member for Upward Bound Ministries, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization aimed to provide services to underserved citizens in our community.
Donald is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in occupational education. Donald was awarded his Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism from Strategic Growth Leaders Bible University. He is a member of
The Church Without Walls, and is involved with the Usher’s Ministry, SALT Ministry (Senior Adults Living Triumphantly), and the Armed Forces Ministry.
Donald has been inducted into The Thomas Jefferson Library of Congress (Veteran
History Project) in Washington, D.C. He is a recipient of the 2023 and 2024 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards. He was also presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Houston by Former Council Member Michael Kubosh.
Dr. Cleveland was awarded with the following awards, MLK Grande Parade “Unity Through Diversity 2025 MLK Community Leadership Award, MLK Humanitarian Award, The State of Texas Certificate of Recognition from Borris L. Miles State Senator District 13, The State of Texas House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition to Dr. Donald Cleveland MLK Awards Ceremony “Unity Through Diversity” from State Representative Ron Reynolds, and he was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from Houston City Council, At-Large, Position 2 Council Member Willie Davis.
